Homeworld 2

Homeworld 2
Homeworld 2 continues the epic struggle of the Hiigarans and their leader Karan S’jet.

Customer Review: Homeworld 2
Very good game at a very good price. Despite its age, Homeworld 2 still holds up graphically. While complex, the tutorial missions do a good job of keeping the learning curve reasonable. You should be able to understand most of the game’s features in only a few hours, which is quite good given the complexity of the game. There also are not many recent space strategy games as detailed as Homeworld 2.

Customer Review: Great sequel
Excellent upgrade for the best graphic game ever created. Homeworld has outstanding game play and Homeworld 2 made that even better with the added scrolling camera views. Gives you the real feeling of the vastness of space and the effects of not being limited to the basic 2D battlefields. Hope the developers expand and make it a triology. Greatly written storyline to keep up with the homeworld tradition.

Customer Review: LIfe Changer
These are excellent recipes. Easy to make and health promoting. I did not need the depth the author went into on setting up a kitchen but it would be helpful for those folks who don’t already know how to do this. The recipes are used frequently in our household and enjoyed by all.
Customer Review: Nice recipes but way too much padding
Pros: Nice recipes, with extensive nutritional information for each recipe. If you are looking, for example, to increase your potassium intake, you’ll find that information, along with many other micronutirents, listed for each recipe. Cons: The recipes only occupy the second half of the book. They are organized by season, so if you want to look at breakfast dishes, for example, you need to flip backwards and forwards through the book as they are located in multiple places. The first half of the book assumes you are a complete idiot from Mars, and is taken up with pages and pages of detailed descriptions of every conceivable kitchen tool and how to use it. If you have never used a corkscrew, purchased a cooking pot, or handled a pancake turner, this is the book for you. The authors proceed in the same fashion with their list of required “pantry” items. The list goes on for a seeming eternity, describing everything you never thought you would have to be told about salt, pepper, flour, rice, and other pantry staples. Another gripe is about the recipes themselves. After extensive intros extolling the goal of simplifying meal preparation by use of simple methods and few ingredients, I find many of the recipes have too many ingredients and doubtful prep times. For example, a recipe with a prep time of 10 minutes may list ten different ingredients, many of which require washing, chopping, peeling, mixing, as well as grilling and other stove-top work. Not to mention the shopping, since you may not happen to have the 6 kalamata olives and 1 tablespoon of fresh basil in your pantry. About one third of the book is taken up with pages and pages of dubious questionaires about your lifestyle choices and their supposed effect on your “real age.” All of these questionaires are listed not once, but TWICE, effectively increasing the annoyance factor by tenfold, as well as doubling the weight of the book. The basic premise of following a Mediterranean type diet seems to be upheld by dietary studies. But the “real age” concept (eg. eat 12 tablespoons of some ingredient 4 times per month will reduce your “real age” by say, 5 years) seems mainly an attention-getting device. Every recipe in the book is accompanied by a “real age” effect - eat this recipe 6 times per year and reduce your “real age” by, say, 2.7 years. The book would be more effective by slimming down by about two thirds, simply extolling the virtues of a Mediterranean diet, cutting out all the questionaires, kitchen and pantry sections, and simply focusing on the recipes.

Customer Review: perfect clock for podium or music stand
If you want to keep track of time while delivering a presentation or performance from behind a podium or a music stand this is the perfect clock for you. How I know they are great is that they keep dissapearing! People love them. You won’t find a more ideal clock to place in front of you as you go through a session.
Customer Review: NOT as described
1. They say it’s 5″ wide. Wrong. It’s 2 1/2″ x 1 1/4″ 2. They say it’s lighted. Wrong. It’s not. 3. Big numbers are easy to read but the clock is not lit and it is extremely difficult to set the time on it.

La Crosse Technology WT-3102S 10 Inch Atomic Analog Clock
Keep track of time with the utmost precision with this attractive atomic analog wall clock from La Crosse Technology. The stylish clock receives radio signals at a 60kHz frequency up to 2000 miles away from its source, the United States Atomic Clock in Boulder, Colorado. By radio communication with its built-in antenna, the clock regularly updates the hour, minute, and second of the day for continued accuracy. Additionally, the clock adjusts automatically for daylight savings time in the spring and fall.

An attractive chrome-colored plastic frame encompasses the clock face. Underneath the flat lens, contemporary numerals adorn the face for easy reading. Four buttons allow users to choose the appropriate United States time zone. For those who prefer their clocks to run five minutes fast or to match another clock, the clock offers a manual set option. For the best results, place the clock away from computers, electronic equipment or other articles that receive a signal. The clock may be slow to receive signals upon initial set-up, but should communicate unhindered after one day. This clock requires the separate purchase of one AA battery for a year’s worth of power. With a 7-1/4-inch diameter face, the full body of the clock measures 10 inches in diameter with a 1-2/3-inch depth. The clock weighs 1-1/3 pounds upon shipping. –Jessica Reuling

Customer Review: RELIABLE CLOCK
I bought this product about 2+ years ago. This clock has been working GREAT! It has the good feature of setting its self to the real time. The clock has been working fine up until this year(early 2008) for the time change. It really was no big deal as others have put it as (drama queens). There is a button at the back of the clock so you can MANUALLY set the time. Nice looking too!
Customer Review: Terrible customer service - won’t fix clocks under warranty
I purchased 4 of these clocks in February 2008. 2 of those work as advertised, and 2 of them stopped working after 12 days. The minute hand just keeps winding rapidly, about twice a minute, instead of showing time. I called La Crosse support, and the lady who answered had me press the manual setting button 20 times and asked me to remove the battery, wait for 20 minutes, put the battery back on and leave the clock near a window. She said they will not replace the clocks under warranty, and that I had to ship the clocks back to them for testing and confirmation that it was not user error! The clock set itself to the right time overnight after that, and the second hand stopped moving later that day. I called customer service again, and they are yet to return my call 4 days after I left them a voice mail. Do not buy this POS product until you call LaCrosse first to see if you can get through to their product support.

Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same [Blu-ray]

Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same [Blu-ray]
The line forms here for the world?€™s greatest and possibly most influential band ?€” Led Zeppelin! With Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love and more signature performances, this mesmerizing movie built around Zep?€™s famed ?€™73 NYC concerts is convincing proof why. Band members supervised the Re-mastering and Dolby 5.1 Re-mixing of the film?€™s image and sound. In addition to their performances, fantasy sequences and at-home glimpses of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and the late John Bonham, this 2-disc Special Edition has over 40 minutes of newly-added extra features including: Two (2) never-before-released songs in rare performance footage: Celebration and Over the Hills and Far Away; Vintage TV Footage: Drake Hotel Robbery during the New York Concert Stand; Robert Plant BBC Interview and Tampa Concert Band Arrival. Also available in Hi-Def and Blu Ray!

Customer Review: Very good transfer of a classic rock film. Even better sound.
I must say that if you are a Zepplin fan, you will love this movie. Is it the best live concert footage ever made? No. Is it hoaky? Yes. It was made with the intentions of giving fans a look at the band from a ” backstage ” point of view. It evolved into something else. A mix of live footage with a twist of…..let’s just say strange. But, enjoyable to any die hard Zep fan out there.

So…..first off, the picture is very nice. It is not ” reference ” quality. It shows it’s age. The film was never shot with the intentions of being perfect. It is concert footage. Gritty, raw, real. So, if you can keep that in mind. You will enjoy be watching this title in it’s best possible presentation. The restoration of this film shows. It is clean of dirt and scratches, but the colors are not stable throughout. You will notice many changes in picture quality as concert scenes change to the movie portion. The concert scenes are clean, sharp. Colors are very nice and bright. Best I have ever seen. But, the actuall movie portion did not fare as well. The blacks do not hold up. Some are poor, some are good, some are very good. Uneven at best. But, the movie is over 30 years old. So, you must cut it some slack.

The audio was much, much better than I expected. With my home theatre system, all sound fields were covered nicely. Your subwoofer gets a very good workout also. Clean, crisp voices throughout. Nicely done I think.

So….with that said. I would say this title is worth buying for any Zep fan. Picture quality is good. Not perfect, but good. Sound is better. If you are not a Zep fan, keep an open mind. This was the mid 70’s. It was a sign of the times, from a Icon band that still holds the test of time. Enjoy!

Customer Review: Fixed?
Hope they’ve fixed whatever the problem was with the original Blu Ray release late last year. Can’t wait to hear the Dolby TrueHD track!

Customer Review: Disappointed
I am somewhat disappointed in this version. I have been buying this product every year since 2003 except for 2007 when I couldn’t find a copy. I don’t notice very much of a difference between this versions information and the 2006, I don’t see that many new roads in areas that I know have new roads (since 2006). This version has more security features, read that as only being able to load it on 2 computers, takes a LOT longer to load. Takes a long time to come up when you want to use the program. I prefer using the 2006 that I have on the companies laptop.

Customer Review: Activation is a problem
I have several older versions of Streets ending in 2006, and the new activation scheme is a real killer for me. It is far easier to use Google (for free) and a Garmin (with custom poi addins). Save your money.

Patchwork: Stories from the Dining Table
When women from different parts of the world get together around a dining table what do they do? They tell stories. Each person sparks memories and imagination in the others until experience and invention are stitched into a rich patchwork. Join the Dining Table Writers; Vim, Urmilla, Rose, Marlene, Ki, Isabelle and Denise with their tales of a right of passage in traditional Sri Lanka, the art of making dahi in rural India and mysterious events in New Zealand. Uncover family secrets in a wardrobe in Mexico. Find out how a marriage is saved by timely advice from a Filipino nun, how living with the man you love in Lyon is quite a different matter from being a bride in rural Zimbabwe, and what one Oxford student came up against when seeking to visit the capital of seventeenth century Persia.

Each story in this collection represents a highly individual interpretation of a situation or relationship where one culture bumps into another and the world tilts, if ever so slightly.

Patchwork is the result of collaboration by seven writers and the proceeds will go to the Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund, a charity which awards grants to women from developing countries.

Customer Review: Book Clubs take Note
This book is a great read with many opportunities for engaging discussions. I highly recommend for book reading groups. After reading half way through, I wondered…why not title it “Rites of Passage?” Each author has crystallized a moment in time and place the reader can appreciate, if not identify with. For travelers and for readers interested in women’s issues … these are human issues. A day or so after reading the stories, I would recall an image or passage with pleasure. This is, to me, an indication of a good book.
Customer Review: A Good Gift
I liked this book very much for several reasons. I have spent a good part of my life abroad and could relate to the stories about what it is like to be in an unfamiliar culture. Likewise, the stories touch on feelings everyone has experienced at one time or another. Who hasn’t felt excited, frightened or lonely at the prospect of change? I have sent a copy to my 16 year old niece who has not travelled much but has a real interest in the world outside her own.The theme of transition and it’s challenges in this book make it an appropriate one to pass on to others.

Aladdin

Aladdin
Disney’s 1992 animated feature is a triumph of wit and skill. The high-tech artwork and graphics look great, the characters are strong, the familiar story is nicely augmented with an interesting villain (Jafar, voiced by Jonathan Freeman), and there’s an incredible hook atop the whole thing: Robin Williams’s frantically hilarious vocal performance as Aladdin’s genie. Even if one isn’t particularly moved by the love story between the title character (Scott Weinger) and his girlfriend Jasmine (Linda Larkin), you can easily get lost in Williams’s improvisational energy and the equally entertaining performances of Freeman and Gilbert Gottfried (as Jafar’s parrot). –Tom Keogh

Customer Review: Classic Disney Movie
I love Aladdin I first saw it when my brother was very little. I think that you can’t go wrong with a Disney Movie. I love this movie and cant tell you how many times I have watched it and still have the excitement of it being the first time I love this tale and the best part is that the color is bright not like the VHS.

Customer Review: The Best
Aladdin is probably the best cartoon movie ever made. It is the story of a young man who tries to win the hand of an Arabian princess with the help of a genie. There are conflicts with an evil vizier who tries to gain the genie’s power and destroy Aladdin. Action packed, fast paced, many twists and turns in the plot, fantastic animation (the old fashion kind), great music, romance, and humor. Great characters. Even like the villains. In short, this movie has it all. And strangely, this movie has more heart than the vast majority of so-called Romanic movies. As an adult, I hate to admit it, but this is among my favorite movies. It also makes a great gift for children.

Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland
Imaginatively rendered but slightly chilly, this 1951 Disney adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic is also appropriately surreal. Alice (voiced by Kathryn Beaumont) has all the anticipated experiences: shrinking and growing, meeting the White Rabbit, having tea with the Mad Hatter, etc. Characterization is very strong, and the Disney team worked hard to bring screen personality to Carroll’s eccentric creations. For a Disney film, however, it seems more the self-satisfied sum of its inventiveness than a truly engaging experience. –Tom Keogh

Customer Review: DISNEY ON DRUGS: “ALICE” IS AN ENTERTAINING, BUT NEVER COHESIVE, MIXED BAG
The two DVD set of “Alice In Wonderland” (1951) comes fully loaded with diverting “extras.” Yet nothing can disguise the fact that Walt Disney was clueless in terms of the story, and how to successfully adapt it to the animated film medium. Disney’s most offbeat cartoon feature is a disconnected hodgepodge of episodes from Lewis Carroll’s original book and its sequel “Through The Looking-Glass.” It’s all very, and strangely, entertaining, but it is never cohesive. Paramount’s 1933 live-action B&W “Alice In Wonderland” (unavailable) also combines episodes from both books, but is much more faithful to Carroll. What went wrong here? Perhaps the story is just too odd and cold– and not nearly as warm or inviting or emotionally involving as MGM’s 1939 Classic “The Wizard Of Oz.” But I think it has more to do with the fact that every Disney animated film,– from “Snow White” to “Cinderella”, to “Alice In Wonderland” to “Peter Pan” and beyond– forces the original story to undergo a process I’ve come to call “Disneyfication.” With “Alice”, critics seriously grumbled for the first time, but certainly not the last time, that Disney was violating classic literature. The same charge was also brought against the “Disneyfication” of “Peter Pan”– although “Peter Pan” is a slightly more successful adaptation.

As for the DVD Extras: Two vintage TV programs show Kathryn Beaumont, the excellent voice and model for Alice, in full costume and character, and a deleted song details the close connection between “Alice” and “Peter Pan.” Beaumont was also the voice and model for Wendy in “Peter Pan.” Forget the kids; there are kicks galore for adults here. The overall DVD package is a loopy mixed bag filled with not-so-subtextual drug references. A lot of others– Lewis Carroll, Disney and his Staff– obviously ate and drank strange stuff along with Alice.

Customer Review: Alice in Wonderland special edition
I just loved watching this special edition for it was in perfect condition. This brought back memories of watching such a classic

Nice cheap price. I use it for my PSP. Works great, I have tons of music and video and hardly put a dent in the storage capacity.

    Customer Review: Sony Memory Stick
Bought this for a PSP. Could have purchased the same product in the store but cost twice the price. If I need another Memory Stick, I’ll definitely buy this one again.

Fashion Metal Mirror Lens Sport Sunglass - 2200RM, Available in two colors
These metal sport style sunglasses are perfect for any occasion. They feature a mirror lens.
    Price: $18.00
Customer Review: These are better than any $10 sunglasses i’ve ever seen
It seems that when you buy a pair of $150 sunglasses you either lose them or someone steals them. So I just wanted to purchase some sunglasses just for driving. So I bought these for about $10. Well worth it. These are much better than any you will find at the store going for $20 or $30. I wear these mountain biking, playing tennis, and jogging. They are nice and firm, just thick enough to feel durable and just thin enough to feel light while wearing them. I bought those “Neo” ones at the same time as these… I’ve only been wearing these.
Customer Review: Why not 1/2 star?
Okay, here’s the story. The first time I reviewed these sunglasses, I said how really rotten they were. The company jumped right on it and said if I would remove my bad review from this sight, they would send me a new pair, plus a top-of-the-line pair, and refund my shipping charges. I held up my part of the bargain and removed my comments, foolishly thinking that they would honor theirs. Well, I haven’t seen anything from them, nor have I been refunded my shipping! Think twice before you make any kind of deal with them! Obviously they’re not too crazy about doing the right thing by being honest with their customers. This time I’ve learned. Maybe I’ll remove this review when and IF they ever decide to do right by me and do what they promised, and not until. I guess they thought they had fooled me right off their websight. Oh, and by the way, their sunglasses aren’t worth having.

Zadro Z’ Fogless Lighted Shower Mirror with Clock
    Price: $39.99
Customer Review: Nothing went right with this one
Not fogless at all. Got much worse over time despite using their special cleaning solution. Clock stopped working after a few months. LED light is too dim to be of much use. And it has a cheap feel to it.
    Customer Review: Overall-Good
The item is worth the cost. It doesn’t fog up in the shower and the mirror’s clarity is good. The LED light is bright and turns itself off automatically. It is provided with several different methods of mounting. I recommend this product.

Charges faster and runs 25% longer than standard battery, with a 50% longer life / Compatible with all Roomba models, including the original series roombas

Customer Review: Its a battery. It works
This is a battery for your Roomba. It makes the Roomba go. It works good. If your Roomba battery is dead you should buy this battery. You don’t have much choice in the matter do you? If you want your Roomba to go again, that is.

Customer Review: Works as good as the original battery.
I was concerned that since the Roomba battery was cheaper at Amazon than any other source I checked, it might not be an equal replacement. I was very happy to find that the battery worked at least as well as the original, in fit and in operation. Super

The Vibrator Extension Cord extends the cord of all Sonic Boom Alarm Clock white vibrators by 15 feet. (Extends model SS12VW white vibrator only).
Customer Review: This is a Must Have!!!
Bought this extension cord at the same time as the sonic boom alarm clock in order to be sure teenage son must actually get out of bed and go across the room in order to shut off the alarm. The alarm itself is wonderful however the combination of the two is a MUST!! What use is the alarm if the person using it should turn it off and then try to get a few more winks?

    Price: $79.99
Customer Review: Sigma Wireless w Cadence
I generally like this computer but have had a few issues with it: 1. I had issues with the original magnet and the Ksyrium SL spokes; a magnet replacement is fairly cheap and easy though. 2. The cadence reading maximum is 180rpm. On the trainer I do warm-up sprints above this, but for some time thought that my legs just weren’t moving fast. 3. I always forget which button to press and hold for resetting. 4. The batteries only lasted 11 months.
    Customer Review: Poor unsatisfactory
I’d never purchase anything from this website and reccommend that you do not either. The product I paid for had no return and the vender went awol. Amazon did nothing to make it right.

Customer Review: Accurate Readings For only 6 Months

    Pajama Game
Doris Day takes the Tony award-winning Broadway smash The Pajama Game and transforms it into one of her most memorable screen hits. This original Columbia recording captures the spirit and playfulness of the stage version with John Raitt, Eddie Foy Jr., and Carol Haney recreating their Broadway roles. Steam Heat, Hey There and Hernando’s Hideaway are but a few of the show-stopping songs featured on this historic soundtrack. 11 tracks are included on this lovingly remastered edition with a bonus track, Man Who Invented Love by Doris Day with Frank DeVol and His Orchestra. 2001 reissue.

Customer Review: Doris Day - Perfect Casting!
For once they got it right. Doris Day being cast as Babe Williams was the smartest thing Warner Brothers ever did. Of course, the original idea was to have Frank Sinatra to take over the male lead in the movie version. Sinatra couldn’t accept, but if he had, Janis Paige would have played Babe. With no Sinatra as a boxoffice draw, Jack Warner needed a star. Doris Day was promised sole star billing above the title if she accepted the picture. Janis was out and John Raitt (top-billed on Broadway) was in, but would be billed below the title in the movie version. Usually, Hollywood gets it wrong. They denied Ethel Merman for “Gypsy” and hired Rosalind Russell, who could not sing; they bypassed Julie Andrews for “My Fair Lady” and hired movie star, Audrey Hepburn, who also couldn’t sing and Carol Lawrence was told “you’re out and Natalie Wood is in” when “West Side Story” came to the screen. Natalie couldn’t sing either. Marnie Nixon’s voice was used for both Wood and Hepburn and Lisa Kirk’s voice subbed for Russell. With Doris Day, they got everything: a top movie star, an expert singer , a trained dancer and skilled actress. Plus, she was beautiful and took full command of the role of Babe. I just wish they had kept “The Man Who Invented Love” in the picture. I’ve never seen a Day musical in which she didn’t have a couple of ballads of her own. In this film, they attempted to right that wrong with “Invented Love” but dropped it so that Doris could reprise “Hey There” for historical purposes. They wanted Day on film singing that legendary song. Overall, a wonderful transition from stage to screen.
Customer Review: Pajama Game Movie Soundtrack
Love love love this CD. I am so glad the movie version of Pajama Game with Doris Day came out. I have been a fan of this movie since we did the musical when I was in high school in 1980. The movie soundtrack is so much better than the Broadway Recording. Janis Paige just doesn’t sing as well as Doris Day. I highly recommend this CD if you are a fan of musicals and Doris Day.

The Six O’Clock Scramble: Quick, Healthy, and Delicious Dinner Recipes for Busy Families
The Six O’Clock Scramble cookbook is a companion to Aviva’s wonderful email-based newsletter service that provides busy moms with easy and nutritious meals for their families. The Scramble is a weekly e-mail newsletter that features: Five flavorful and healthy, tried-and-true dinner recipes with side dish suggestions, emailed to you each week. Easy-to-prepare dinners in 30 minutes (or less), most with fewer than 10 ingredients. Delicious, easy recipes like Asian Turkey Burgers, Tortellini Tossed with Fresh Mozzarella, honey glazed salmon and red beans and rice burritos. Includes an organized grocery list so you can print and shop. Perfect for working or full-time parents, or anyone who wants to make easy, delicious home-cooked meals. From O, The Oprah magazine:Aviva Goldfarb had one of those ideas - incredibly obvious, yet nobody had thought of it - that immediately make the pieces of your brain fit together with a neat click. A wife, mother, self-published cookbook author, and organizational ace, Goldfarb realized that for most people 6 P.M. was too late to start wondering what to cook for dinner. So she started the Six O’Clock Scramble (thescramble.com), a weekly e-mail newsletter with five days’ worth of dinner recipes, plus grocery lists. The meals (grilled teriyaki chicken tenderloins one night, baked huevos rancheros another) take about a half hour to prepare and are creative, healthy, unprocessed and kid-friendly without being adult-alienating. A subscription costs $5 a month - a small price to pay for a whole new kind of happy meal. Goldfarb herself is happy, having graduated from the self-publishing business: Next fall St. Martin’s Press will release The Six O’Clock Scramble Cookbook.

Customer Review: Great format - maybe a little more oomph?
Have tried a few of the recipes now and plan to keep making more. I love the format: the weekly/seasonal grocery lists, suggested side dishes, healthy ingredients and the mix of meat and meatless dishes. Definitely a great framework for putting together a weekly repertoire (it makes me braver about thinking up menus on my own, or just augmenting what’s in this book with favorites from elsewhere). Cons: Based on the entrees I’ve made so far (e.g. fettucine with chickpeas, Mediterranean chicken), and what I’ve skimmed past, the recipes seem to be on the bland side. I’ve been enhancing as I go - sun-dried tomatoes here, black olives and salt there - but wish the flavors were a little more complex and powerful. Then again, that would probably make the cooking time longer. Will be interesting to see how the more “exotic” entrees turn out. Have also noticed that there’s a fair amount of cleanup involved - i.e., this is not one-dish cooking. In some cases it seems like you could saute all the ingredients in the same pan if the order was just switched around. Certainly there are other cookbooks for one-pot cooking, but if you’re looking to streamline your nightline routine, be aware there’s work on the back end here. Could be that this is a result of the recipes originating from different kitchens: I’ve found that the Barefoot Contessa recipes, for instance, tend to be pretty efficient, and I’m guessing that’s because they were developed under commercial conditions. Lastly, I think it would be great if the seasonal menu pages as well as the grocery lists (”Fall,” “Winter,” and so on) had page numbers for each recipe, so that one doesn’t have to flip thru the index in back for each dish.
    Customer Review: Great recipes
I enjoy making meals out of this book, however I must admit, they aren’t as kid friendly as they say. Yes, the recipes call for easy to find ingredients (except for the one with mango chutney, can’t find that in Mitchell, SD!), and I don’t consider my kids to be the pickiest eaters (I know pickier!), but I couldn’t get my 5 year old to eat more than half of the recipes I tried. My husband and I loved them, but not the kids. Aside from that, the book did help me make grocery lists with ease and I loved how fast the meals came together.
