Bought this set at bargain price from one of the Amazon’s merchants! It was used and price of it was of 1/3 of the list price.

High quality cables, I especially liked the component one: 3 meter cable with good shielding, it’s as thick as some power cables, multi-AV easily fits the PS3, RCAs are made of thick metal and sit tight on component inputs. It takes a little time to connect them, you just have to rotate them carefully. So I don’t understand all this whining about ubertight Monster cables! Come on people! Use your brains not only for writing dumb reviews!

Summary: Good but expensive set for the owners of old projectors and TVs without HDMI input. Please note that you can’t get analog sound with this set. Only digital sound through optical cable! Receiver with optical input is a must!

I needed a replacement for my old-fashioned mercury style outdoor thermometer after it got broken. I thought it would be cool to have a digital thermometer that would warn me when the temperature dropped down below 15 degrees F, so I could leave faucets running to avoid frozen pipes. So, I bought this thermometer. The first one I got was defective (it read 5 F too high) and I returned it. The second one was accurate, but I noticed that it is relatively slow to respond to rapid temperature changes compared to a conventional style mercury thermometer. What I like about it: The style is simple and elegant, the diplay is easy to read at a distance, the clock sets itself quickly and accurately, and the reception from the remote unit is reliable. Now for the bad part. Whoever designed the temperature warning features should be fired! A loud beeping alarm will go off anytime the remote temperature unit senses a temperature from 28 F to 37 F, and there is no way to turn this alarm function off! I tried setting the high and low temperature alarms to see if that would override the default and it does not. This renders the unit useless as a temperature warning device! Dumb! I decided to keep it anyway - just as a mere thermometer without any alarms. Here is how to do it: There is no need to take anything apart or cut any wires. You just have to open up the remote unit and move the small switch to channel 2 or 3 and press the reset button with the end of a paper clip. This is because the default channel 1 is the channel that sets off the alarms.

My blind father is a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home and someone at the home purchased the Curve Talking Clock for him quite some time ago - several years at least. A logical person would think that “alarm clock” implies that it has a snooze unless disclosed otherwise. Unfortunately in these days of cheap, low quality products “made in China” logic does not prevail. This is disingenuous to not disclose the absence of a snooze button. C’mon, that’s like a car without brakes! It’s downright dishonest to not disclose. But perhaps I am too old fashioned to expect honesty. After all, caveat emptor! This is good for what it is: a talking clock where you can listen to the time by hitting a big button … that happens to have an alarm. I was looking for a talking alarm with snooze (a feature as basic to an alarm clock as brakes are to a car). Now I have to decide .. do I spend the $ to return it or keep it, unused, rather than waste time and money on the return. What the other reviewer mentions about it being easy to mess up by hitting the wrong (small) buttons is possible, but easily fixed. Probably more a problem for someone with limited manual dexterity who lives alone. A blind person with good manual dexterity or someone who has a sighted person to help would probably not find this problem that big a deal. There is a volume adjustment (slider, not a knob or dial) that is better designed–will not be easy to accidentally change.

Pretty good little clock radio. Can’t beat the price I paid, less than $12. Reception on the radio is great compared to other clock radios I’ve had in the past. Gets the work done. Large bright numbers, easy to see. Not too bright where its annoying (I like the room dark when I’m sleeping). Only thing i’d like is the option to set 2 alarms but I think there’s a higher model which does that if you’re willing to pay more.

I bought this fan to use in our motorhome. It moves the air nicely without blowing everything all over the place. I can not stand noisey fans or air conditioners. Unless it is scorching hot this fan does a good job. It has a nice sturdy base and it looks nice too. Some fans are so noisey it makes sleeping difficult. This fan is quiet enough to leave on when sleeping. It also does not make a banging noise when it oscillates.

We’ve used ours every night in the bedroom for the past 8 months (sits on a deep windowsill). It moves a decent amount of air and is remarkably quiet. Sure you can buy a nasty, white plastic one for $10 but for a reasonable amount more it’s a nice thing to look and at least gives the impression that it’ll last a good long time. Unless you’re have trouble operating a screwdriver there will be no problem assembling it.

This was such a good purchase. Not only was it very inexpensive, the quality was quite good. The table is sturdy and easy to set up. It was balanced (nothing lop-sidded here). The chairs were a really good buy too. They are padded. They look much better than the institutional tan chairs that look like they came from a church hall. I will use this over and over throughout the year for extra seating and as a game table.

I love this shower head. I have been a user of this brand for years. The only down size to it is that its cracks easily. I have been through 4 in the last 2 years. It wasn’t a problem when I could get them locally but now I have to order them online. The company is out of business and will not honor the lifetime warranty that they originally promised. There was no return policy for this item, and, when we tried to unscrew one head, it stripped the plastic and is now useless. It had a lot of different types of sprays to choose from, which we liked, and it is a water saver, but it was a waste of money for us since we can’t use it and can’t return it.

The Big Chill
Lawrence Kasdan’s 1983 big-budget variation on John Sayles’s The Return of the Secaucus Seven finds a cluster of old college radicals–who have since gone on to sundry professions and various degrees of materialism–reuniting over the death of a friend. Both playful and thoughtful, the film represents Kasdan (Body Heat) at his most astute. The attractive cast meshes perfectly into a group of characters for which a former closeness is out of synch with their current lives, yet their warmth is enviable and inviting. The script may be a bit too glib, with many one-liners, but it is still a perfectly designed story with telling irony and no little passion. –Tom Keogh

Customer Review: Good film after all these years
Tom Brokaw’s new book, “Boom!” mentions “The Big Chill” and somehow I’ve missed seeing it over the years. I was pleasantly surprised to see then-young actors Tom Berenger, Kevin Kline, Glenn Close and William Hurt (among others) come together for a strong ensemble performance. These thirty-somethings gather over a weekend of a sad event and manage to explore their current and past lives in a way that seems surprisingly relevant. I wouldn’t say “The Big Chill” is timeless but I could imagine a group of my own friends having some of the same conversations today.

If there’s not a whole lot of “action” in “The Big Chill” it makes up for it in insight. The soundtrack is a great addition but it is really the fine acting that carries the film and it’s great to see so many up and coming stars. “The Big Chill” is worth a look.

Everyone in the cast does a good job in this film, particularly Kevin Kline and Glenn Close as the couple who host a group of old friends for several nights after the death of another friend. I had seen it years ago, then just again today and, though one might hear some whining now and then, it’s not irritating.

The only thing I find intrusive on occasion is the soundtrack, which has great songs but tends to interrupt the narrative instead of to advance it.

The Notebook

Customer Review: Touching
There isn’t much I can say about this beautiful movie, except that it was so touching! It say’s go for the “true love”, settle for nothing else no matter what may be in store, because love that is “true” and as beautiful as their’s was, is a rare thing! I absolutely loved the ending. I also loved that a movie CAN be truly wonderful, beautiful and touching WITHOUT grafic “sex scenes!” Also sadly a rare thing in movies today. Ever seen “Hanover Street?” Equally beautiful. Customer Review: Pays music a complement. I love the classical pieces!
I do not have the soundtrack to The Notebook, but I do have the movie itself. Having said that, every song is wonderful. Some music carries with it, a wealth of emotion and a sense of timelessness. I love all of the classical pieces , perhaps the best, in this particular movie. Classical has never been my speed when it comes down to music, but something about this movie’s classical masterpieces struck a chord in me…made me smile and maybe even sniffle a bit. If you are a fan of the movie, I’m sure you would love its soundtrack too. Music like this is ideal for a romantic evening or just for pleasure listening. You don’t know if you’ll like something until you give it a chance! So give this a chance!!

The Big Chill
Lawrence Kasdan’s 1983 big-budget variation on John Sayles’s The Return of the Secaucus Seven finds a cluster of old college radicals–who have since gone on to sundry professions and various degrees of materialism–reuniting over the death of a friend. Both playful and thoughtful, the film represents Kasdan (Body Heat) at his most astute. The attractive cast meshes perfectly into a group of characters for which a former closeness is out of synch with their current lives, yet their warmth is enviable and inviting. The script may be a bit too glib, with many one-liners, but it is still a perfectly designed story with telling irony and no little passion. –Tom Keogh
Customer Review: Good film after all these years
Tom Brokaw’s new book, “Boom!” mentions “The Big Chill” and somehow I’ve missed seeing it over the years. I was pleasantly surprised to see then-young actors Tom Berenger, Kevin Kline, Glenn Close and William Hurt (among others) come together for a strong ensemble performance. These thirty-somethings gather over a weekend of a sad event and manage to explore their current and past lives in a way that seems surprisingly relevant. I wouldn’t say “The Big Chill” is timeless but I could imagine a group of my own friends having some of the same conversations today. If there’s not a whole lot of “action” in “The Big Chill” it makes up for it in insight. The soundtrack is a great addition but it is really the fine acting that carries the film and it’s great to see so many up and coming stars. “The Big Chill” is worth a look.

I received the Liberty Spring Horse today and wanted to put it together in case there were any pieces missing or any defects. I was pleased how well packed everything was and how easy it was to put together. This product is very sturdy and durable. The springs are great on it and the motion of the horse is very smooth. I was also pleased with the fabric over the springs for added protection. Overall, this is an outstanding buy and my wife and I are very pleased. We look forward to seeing our daughters face on Christmas Morning. Merry Christmas everyone!
Customer Review: Great Price! Very large horse!
My son is almost 2 1/2 but we bought this horse for him when he was 18 months. He loved it at first and it has been durable for us but he was very small when he was riding it alot. He now only rides it some, so we have had no problems thus far. It is a very big horse though so if you are looking for a small child I would suggest looking at some of the smaller less expensive ones.

Customer Review: VIOLATES MOST PRINCIPLES OF GOOD CINEMA.
This film’s script tells a tale of identical twin sisters, played by Delia Sheppard, who have little to link them other than appearance, and of how one must pay for attempting to usurp her sister’s place when the latter disappears. Kaitlin, although unhappily married, has wed into wealth and resides in a mansion; meanwhile, her sister Shauna is a stripper in a sleazy bar who mysteriously tells Kaitlin she needs money with which to immediately leave town. Kaitlin impulsively takes Shauna’s place during the dark hours and soon discovers that everything is not quite all right with her sister’s life style, which includes sexual and drug excess. While she more or less frolics, complications abound, including murder, and Kaitlin becomes increasingly aware that her nocturnal impersonation does not provide compensation for the difficulties with which she must deal. This scenario wobbles about as it is merely an interstice for the doffing of garments by Sheppard and others preparatory to thrashing about in various sexual liaisons, one or two of which might possibly have something to do with the plot, such as it is. There is nothing fresh here as one illogical scene follows upon the other far too slowly, to the viewer’s discomfort, with the abysmally poor dialogue and tiresome exposure of flesh merely resulting in an example of softcore pornography, and that devoid of any real eroticism or any other purpose.
Customer Review: Sexy psychological drama
One of director Hippolyte’s better direct-to-video (or is it Cinemax After Dark?) features, concerning a sexy woman (Delia Shepperd) and her innocent twin. The twin decides to take a walk on the wild side, which leads to you-know-what. Decent performances and an attractive cast make this film rather enjoyable. Very hot sex scene with Shepperd and Nels Van Patten is an added bonus.

Well, this is just to say that I was surprised by how boring (and seemingly uninformative) this book is! The title really grabbed my attention and I love anthropology (especially cultural anthropology). However, for whatever reason, it just didn’t do anything for me. In fact, it did LESS than anything for me! (there’s another fifty dollars forever gone)…

this book was boring. Evrything in here was either stuff you could look up in the dictonary and that you wouldn’t need to because the terms went by other words as well, or common sense that you would know by guessing. This book reads similar to books made in the era of black and white television whos goals were to dispense facts and not to entertain thus saving space and money. Because of this it sounds just like an instruction manual except for the fact that most instruction manuals arent this long. If you plan on reading this book all the way through good luck its a 282 page instruction manual. If I could have I would have given it a negative one star review
